yeah kids are so unpredictable around cars. I always come to a complete stop if I see kids running nearby

I hold her hand when we're outside and there're cars around or lots of people. Will also hold her hand when we watch cartoons and before i put her down for the night.

We're working on this. DD is 2 and likes to be independent, but we make her hold our hand while in parking lots and crossing streets. Sometimes it's a battle, though, because she usually wants to walk on her own!

Eek! My LO is only 6 months old but I have older nephews. They always had to hold my hand whenever cars were nearby. You can't always trust the person in the car to stop. I can't believe the dad didn't take her hand after she ran back to the other side!

when you cross the street or when you are in the parking lot? I was just in the parking lot of a mall and a girl about 4years old ran out of the store into the mini road of the parking lot. I stopped because I didnt know what she would do.Her dad came out casually and then together they started to cross the "road" half way across the girl decided to run back to the otherside and then into the road a few times, a car from the opposit direction nearly hit her. But the dad still never held her hand, he kept yelling instructions at her. I would think that holding hands would be a given if the child is to young to cross the road by themselves.
