We have a few friends who don't have kids and we still invite them since they are friends with our other friends who do have kids. We've always had parties at home. If we were to do it at a play venue, we might not invite them.

We did for his 1st bday, but just did family for 2nd birthday. We have HUGE group of friends so our guest list is always close to 100 if we include them. Heck, just family is already 30 something people!

We did invite our adult friends to his first birthday a few weeks ago, but probably will have smaller parties moving forward. I remember that I didn't enjoy kids parties before I had kids, so will try to keep that in mind, haha.

This post made me realize that I don't have any friends at don't have kids :bummed:. All of their actual aunts and uncles don't and we obviously invite them.

We don't have any local adult friends that don't have kids. But we did invite our friends to her 1st birthday party. I sort of considered it a "yay we survived" party. I doubt we'll invite them to future parties until our LO is old enough to be friends with their kids. For the next few years I think we'll just do family/small things.

We're the childless friends (until February) and I've only been invited to our closet friend's kids birthday parties - the relationship with the kid is almost aunt/uncle so it feels natural we would go to the family party. I haven't been invited to any of my other friend's kid's parties.

since his second birthday, i only invite friends with kids because those kids are his friends too. I know he has friends in daycare too and i thought about inviting some of them, but wasn't sure how to go about it since i don't know the parents at all. And i didn't want to just invite the whole class OR exclude some people. I think i will only start inviting daycare/school friends when LO asks me to.

We had a backyard party and we invited 2 sets of our closest friends. One set doesn't plan on having kids, the other haven't yet. We love them like family and can't imagine not including them in her special events.

That being said - that's just while the parties include adults. Once they are all kid parties, we won't invite them anymore.

Only for first birthday! After that it was more about LO and we've held them at kid places with her friends. So my friends with no kids would not enjoy themselves.

We did for DD's first birthday as that was a bigger celebration. For subsequent birthdays, just her friends/cousins and their parents. All her parties have been held at kid places with kid focused activities, I figure its the last place my single or childless friends want to spend their saturdays...

For the first birthday, we invited our adult friends. But we won't be inviting them to any other birthday parties, unless we're close enough to feel like family (so my BFF is still invited, haha).

I do-- our guest list ratio is still 80/20 (adults to kids) at this age.

We didn't invite our childless friends to LO's recent 3rd birthday. I mean it was at 10am at a playground so I don't think it would have been very fun for them (I know I would not have been interested pre-kids!), and we're pretty good about getting together with people. I don't think anyone was offended!

Do you invite your friends to LOs birthday party? I'm primarily interested in those friends of yours that do not have kids.

I invited everyone for LOs first birthday as it was a big milestone and we also did her baby naming (Jewish tradition) at that time, so it was an important gathering. For her 2nd bday we just did family and no kids or adult friends.

Now that we are having her 3rd bday, we are inviting her daycare class for the first time and the list is getting quite long if we invite all of our adult friends as well.

I'd love to see my friends, but I don't want them to feel obligated to attend a child's birthday party at which they will probably not have very much fun. But is it rude to not invite them?
