The publishers design covers to reflect the book's contents - especially genre, so it's not a bad strategy. There are lots of types of fantasy covers I avoid, as they are known for containing really crappy stories. I always read the summary and look at the front cover. If it sounds or looks interesting, I'll read a few pages to see if I like the writing. In fact, when I go to the book store I skim the shelves by looking at the color of the binding. I look for bright colors like pink or turquoise. Something that lets me know that it is a girly chic book. Please tell me I'm not the only one... </p>
