Its stressful for her because every waking moment of her life is dedicated to her children (she takes no time for herself, has no real interests outside of the kids), and everything that happens she takes super personally – like a bump or bruise is a failure on her part as a parent instead of just normal parts of growing up. Her kids are super sweet and well behaved, but they also are not really emotionally at the same level as their peers, in part because they’ve never been allowed to be independent, or to “fail” at anything. Plus he's so independent. I usually sit nearby while he runs back and forth and plays on his own. To be honest I think the media is responsible for a lot of it - the sensationalist approach has us all thinking there's a paedophile kiddie-snatcher hiding behind every tree. It's really sad how little freedom kids get now compared to when we were little. Hub's younger brother is 23 and she still hovers.... (ie. micromanaging his life, calling me or hubs to check facts/stories). But at the same time, he is completely dependent on his parents and struggles to live a independent life.
