I think I know maybe 2 IRL. One is a medical resident. Pretty much from when her maternity leave ended, her husband did a lot of the solo parenting and still does. Their LO is in preschool now and he does tech consulting. For them, it works. One other one I know is a SAHM with a husband working two jobs to support her SAHM.

I've solo parented here and there when DH went away to a funeral on Labor Day weekend and some other small events. We trade on and off on those to allow us some "me" time.

DH and I do baths together and switch on and off on reading before bed. When LO was flipping out the past few nights about going to bed, I figured out a way to get him interested in reading books and ready for bed. I only told DH of my awesome parenting win after a tough night.

One of my close friends IRL and I seem to have the same solo parenting struggle. We are both responsible for 99% of care for our LO's (and she has two). Both of our DH's work a lot and have hobbies/side jobs that take up a lot of their weekend time.

Yes, lots of other med school spouses. Husbands' involvement varies according to rotation. At least we can commiserate...

I'm the only one IRL, and all my friends are SAHMs who are constantly telling me to just quit my job. HB makes me feel so much less alone!

No one in real life in that their SO/DH is away for days at a time. But I have some friends whose husbands work early and late so they miss out on morning/bedtime routines.

One of my friends had to drop to part time because her husband was *always* working. He gets up at 3:30 for the day and was often home after 8pm :( But she is the only one I know (oh and the one who's husband is active duty military. That's a whole other ballgame)

I know a couple of HB lovelies irl who solo a ton . . . but other than that? Nope. Nada.

ETA: Oh, and I pretty much do everything solo most days . . . when SO is home, he helps with mornings for a bit, and tries to make it home for bath time a couple of nights a week (although it doesn't always work out). But he also travels a good bit.

almost nobody IRL now

One of my closest friends was a single mama for a long time and she had two under two - don't know how she did it!

My husband never did one MOTN feeding, has never given DS a bath. But he does solo parent when I leave from work until he goes to work in the afternoon.
It's just rare that it's the three of us together as a family.
I find lots of things to do with J though. I never feel like I'm "stuck" in the house with him.

It seems like all of my friends IRL have their SO's home to help a lot, so HB definitely helps me feel less lonely. I know a lot of you are mostly solo, too. :-)
