It was a snow storm and she lives in a very rural area, the ambulance couldn't get to her house, neither could her husband. My older sister was born within about 5 minutes of her getting to the hospital. Her water broke, she went straight into transition, and she was born in under an hour. </p> <p>So when her water broke with me and the contractions were immediately horrible, she raced to the hospital. It was SO nuts. She didn't even have time to take off her pants so the baby was "caught" in her sweatpants.<br /> I'm so nervous about #2 coming fast, my mom said to get my butt to the hospital as soon as I start feeling anything. My mom gave birth to my sister 20 minutes after she got to the hospital, so I was pretty freaked out. Especially because I wanted an epidural. So when my contractions came close together fast, I went. And of course they sent me home because they weren't strong enough, and of course I freaked out. They were driving past an airport and she could tell she wouldn't be able to make it so she had the cab pull into the airport and she gave birth right there. There was an article in the newspaper about it. </p> <p>I also saw an episode of A Baby Story where a woman was pregnant with twins, went into intense labor, called 911, and gave birth to baby #1 before the paramedics even got to her house. She was wearing sweatpants and didn't even have time to take them off before the baby came out, and she was still on the phone with 911. It was awesome. There was a lady who went into labor while she was trapped in her home by high water. I'm not sure how she got under there! Her oldest was three at the time and the only one home. She called an ambulance because she knew she wasn't going to make the 45 minute drive to the nearest hospital. They didn't arrive in time though!
