I have a good friend who developed an egg allergy as a teenager! It's not considered severe because her symptoms are GI upset and skin rash, not anything life threatening. But she does avoid it in all foods, which is a PITA. But it helps her eat really healthy!

My son has an egg allergy. He is 3. He has a cough and difficulty breathing and is only if he has eggs directly, not an issue if they are cooked into something.
He was diagnosed at 1. We haven't tested since, but we probably should soon.

Mine. She hasn't outgrown it, but it is getting better so fingers crossed. She is 3.

My cousin has anaphylaxis with eggs. He was a baby when they discovered it. He turned blue while they were driving (why I'll always use one of those car seat mirrors!) and stopped at a firestation. They took him immediately by ambulance.
He's 13 now and has grown out of some of his allergies (beef and dairy so far) but not egg or his others.

My brother. I think he was 5. He has not grown out of it as a teenager. It used to be worse than it is now, but any time he eats things with eggs he feels queasy and sometimes gets an itchy throat or hives.

DH's cousin and his daughter - He is in his early 40s, she is 12 or 13. He thinks he has actually outgrown it, but he still avoids eggs out of lifelong habit. His daughter has not grown out of it. Not sure when they found out.

LO's daycare friend - They found out when he was an infant and he threw up violently after eating eggs. He is 2 and has not outgrown it but I'm not sure how bad it is now.

We just cut eggs for my 3 year old since we suspect it's causing some of his eczema. He's not crazy allergic as in going to anaphylactic shock though.

My DD has a suspected egg allergy. She is a year old and it hasn't been confirmed yet. It is fairly mild (skin reaction only) and is only if she has eggs directly, not an issue if they are cooked into something. We are hopeful she will eventually grow out of it.

I don't know another child, but my 69 yr old uncle has had a severe egg allergy since he was very young. He has yet to grow out of it and has to be so, so careful with everything he eats, whilst also carrying an epi pen everywhere he goes. I hope your friend's LO grows out of it soon!

How bad is it and how old was the child when they found it? Did they eventually grow out of it? A friend's child has one and it's pretty bad. He can't eat anything made in a plant that processes eggs. They're hoping he grows out of it soon.
