Mainly because we have a similar story :-) I feel like dating and anniversaries and "being official" were a big deal in high school so it mattered that we were "officially" dating and not just "hanging out." We've been together 12 years now and married for 4. We usually acknowledge our dating anniversary somehow (like go out to dinner) -- this year a week after he was like, so we've been together for 12 years, and I was like oh yeah guess we have.
