He really wanted to go with Molly, but my maiden name also starts with an M and they were worried about the M&amp;M nickname. (Which I really don't think would be that bad.) I was Alyssa for a day or so in the hospital, until my grandma came to visit and promptly called me Alisha. Not wanting to deal with the correction my whole life, Alyssa was changed, though they didn't settle on Jessica for another day or so, causing the hospital nurses to refer to me as "poor little baby no name." Mom said it made her feel like some sort of cave woman. </p> <p>My middle name was a whole other speed bump in naming with distant relatives coming out of the woodwork to insist the name Ray was bad luck and I would die prematurely.
