Your comments really help! I hate hearing her cry, so I will keep soothing and hopefully this is just a phase and she will go back to her good ole' self....

If it's just "I want attention!" crying, then I'd let him/her cry for 5-10 minutes before checking on him/her again. After a certain age - I expect to be Mommy Velcro for the first 6 weeks at least. But if my baby is fed, watered, burped, clean, the correct temperature, neither under nor over stimulated, not sick, and knows I'm nearby, and he/she is still fussy - he or she can fuss away.

I was a super colicky baby - I screamed unless I was in my mom's arms or asleep. My parents just had to put me on ignore to get ANYTHING done.

I've tried a bit of CIO but that didn't really work for us. Other times I have let her cry if she's throwing a tantrum for a totally unknown reason to me. She'll cry for a bit and then just get over it. I feel like she just needs to let off some steam.

I try not to let my lo cry. Sometimes ill let her fuss when trying to nap because if I pick her up she'd never get to sleep. She used to only want to be held and cried if I put her down when she was a newborn, so I held her all the time. I feel like she cries to communicate that she's unhappy, and I want her to know that I'll be there for her if she needs me.

I tend to not let my LO cry for long periods of time. But I'll let him cry if he's being really cranky and nothing else soothes him (he sometimes just needs to release pent up energy). He went through a period of time (around 3-4 months) when nothing would soothe him except being held. So I just held him until he settled down. He didn't end up being a clingy baby so I would definitely do that again. I think most parents are scared of soothing their baby in fear of them getting used to the soothing method (being held, rocked, fed, etc). But some babies just aren't the types that get attached to things so it's fine to soothe them with whatever means necessary. But that's my parenting philosphy though (i'm in the attachment parenting camp) so not sure if this would apply to everyone.

I've always tried to be super mom, and I realize that its ok for a baby to cry but I feel so guilty if I don't try to do something to help her. We'll its been getting ridiculous this past week. She won't let us lay her down in her bed if she is drowsy and we are lucky if she lets us put her down when she is sleeping. (she sleeps good at night, but she has to be really out of it to put her in her crib) I know that we've done this to ourselves.. but I need help? Shes always been really good about playing on the floor but lately she won't, she gets upset right away or if we are lucky she might play a few minutes...She wants to be held all the time... so? Do I just let her cry so she gets use to being in her bed and playing on the floor? or could this be something else? (like she doesn't feel good, teething, or ear infection?)
