Are you kidding? My cat would move out and report me if I didn't let her in the nursery. She is SO CLINGY & thinks the baby is going to make her a big sister....so, yeah, she's in there all the time watching momma put up baby's clothes :)

Of course! He is a part of the family too. He sheds, but I vacuum multiple times a day. No big deal!

@babyboecksmom: I was never a dog person (grew up with cats) and was a little leery when DH told me he wanted a giant dog but he had done his research and found a breed that is excellent with children. Not the greatest picture but this was when we showed DD her "big girl bed" for the first time (again DH gave our dog permission to be on the bed because otherwise she was trained not to jump up)

Eh - we sometimes let them in, but we've trained them to stay at the doorway of the room and wait to be let in. They're huge (both around 100 lbs) and the room is small so it's just easier to keep them out.

As of right now, she's not allowed in there. But she already has restricted access to rooms with carpet in them. She's only allowed in our office and the doorway of our bedroom. DH likes to keep our carpet as clean as possible.

we let them in before she was born to investigate and get used to the new baby stuff. And we still let them in the nursery now unless LO is sleeping, then her door is shut. We have a cat and a dog

we haven't moved into our new place yet, but i do plan on letting our dogs into the nursery. they shed a lot, but we've been dealing with that for years and i guess the baby will, too!

we only allow him in with us. he throws up way too much for me to trust him in there unattended. he's also a horrible shedder - DH had horrible asthma as a child, so I'm unsure if she will or not, so I'd like to keep the dander and hair to a minimum if possible.

Yep - and they love it! Although they have not gotten into the crib or the glider, but they love to hang out on the rug, and they are fascinated by the stroller (which is parked in the sunroon adjacent to the nursery).

No I prefer our cat not be in the room. DH could care less if our cat is in there but he sheds alot and his fur is very difficult to get out of carpet and the glider fabric. He kept jumping in the bassinet after we put it up. I put aluminum foil in it after 1 jump on the foil he has not jumped in it again.

Our chihuahua is my shadow, and if I'm in a room with the door shutting him out, he will scratch and paw at the door, so I'm sure he'll be allowed in the nursery. He is bad:)

@purrpletulips: I love newfies! My cousin has one and we stayed with her last week for a night. He loved, loved, loved my LO and just wanted to give her kisses constantly. They're such sweet dogs.

We allow our dog in the nursery because she so sensitive and gets very depressed about not being allowed to be totally part of the family. Like other commenters, I don't love the shedding, but I think that the friendship between baby and dog is so important.

DH doesn't allow my cat in the room but the dog is allowed (I personally don't think this is fair, but DH just tolerates the cat because of me). Our dog is a major shedder but there isn't much we can do; this morning I came out of the shower to find our 130# newfie and DD laying in bed together (DH had something to do with this since our dog only gets on the beds when invited but still warmed my heart).

Before LO came my dog thought it was his new room :) We put a rug in there that was extra comfy cozy so he would sleep on it all the time.

@chopsuey119: Our dog's a shedder too.... he wore LO's rug out before she even got here! We don't care though, we just want them to love each other.
