Yes, I will gladly serve non breakfast items as the first meal. DD has had fried ice, pho, pizza, chicken nuggets, spaghetti and leftovers for breakfast. I am just happy to see her eat.

cheese is normal for breakfast, but DH thinks "weird" things are not okay for breakfast. haha I usually give in and let her eat what she wants as long as it is healthy.

And we actually have "brinner" (breakfast for dinner) at least once a month...and it is tonight. It's my favorite meal! I'm making a breakfast casserole with eggs, sausage, cheese, and hashbrowns. a side of fruit and whole wheat toast if anyone wants it. :)

DH gives him popcorn sometimes :meh:
I wasn't a huge breakfast food person growing up so I think I'm a little bit more forgiving. I loved leftover pizza :)

Don't see why not. I never eat breakfast food for breakfast. Dinner yes, but not breakfast. It seems pretty arbitrary.

She usually requests typical breakfast foods, but if she asked for something else, I'd go with it as long as it was easy (leftovers or something quick to make).

Mostly no, but she had been sick w/ a low appetite, so hummus and crackers did the trick for breakfast today and that's just fine with me.

I let my kid eat anything not junky she wants for breakfast. Sometimes that means salami and cucumbers and olives, which is usually a popular lunch. Once it was tacos, which was easy. But usually just toast and fruit.

@Greentea: Because sometimes it's a pain in the butt to make!? Like he wanted frozen pizza one morning and it just takes longer than whipping up some eggs. But if I have the time, I don't care anymore : )

My boys can have anything they ask for breakfast as long as it is real food. If it means they will eat I will do whatever I need. (Momma of boys with feeding trouble)

She can have whatever she wants apart from candy or Goldfish crackers, which is what she wanted this morning. I figure breakfast items are different all around the world, as long as it is proper food, I'm good.

He hasn't asked except for things like chocolate or pretzels or something and I've said no. I pack his breakfast for school so he doesn't get much choice. It is usually yogurt, fruit and a carb (toast, mini bagel, muffin etc).

Same as @mrbee: she is more likely to ask for breakfast food for another meal, and as long as she hasn't had that food already, whatever. I agree though, as long as it's healthy enough, I don't care if it's the right "time" to eat it. Btw tater tots are pretty much the same as hash browns anyway. :)

@FaithFertility: I've eaten pb and j for breakfast since college.

My DS will sometimes have non breakfast items for breakfast. It's just not a battle I want to have that early in the morning! If he requests to eat something specific, I'm generally not going to deny him, unless he's asking for something like candy.
