DD is only 2.5 but not allowed to eat on the couch. I do let her have a "picnic" on a blanket or towel on the hardwood floor as a compromise and I've let her kneel at the coffee table once or twice, but not for anything messy. We'll see how long this rule survives once we have 2 LOs...

Maybe popcorn for a movie, so that's only 1-2 times a month. We don't allow food anywhere other than the kitchen/dining room or backyard.

Only desserts on movie nights. So maybe 2-4 times a month.

No. Well, a few times my eldest has eaten raisins or something similar in his pottery barn chair but not on the couch. We try to only eat at the table.

When we are at home DD is only allowed to eat at the dining table for meals but for snacks she can choose the dining table, her kid size table, or the kitchen. We do eat on the couch while she is sleeping. If we have people over and are serving snacks in the living room she can bring one of her chairs to the coffee table.

I let them eat popcorn if we're watching a movie, or sometimes snacks that adults are eating during a football game. I always find it in the cushions though.

On non family dinner nights, they can eat on the couch. Since we started Hello Fresh, those nights are fairly rare. Yes, underneath the couch is gross, but is cleaned frequently.

I really wish I wouldn't have allowed this to happen, but we had really old couches when the kids were born up until a few months ago. When we got the new couch I didn't change the rules, but I should have! We only let them eat dry things but in between the cracks and underneath is SO disgusting.

Do you have rules about eating on the couch?
