DH and I dropped halves of a white peach in our glasses of dinner Riesling to have as a little dessert at the end of the meal and a few minutes into our dinner I caught a bit in my mouth and realized it was a really good peach so I fished it out and gave a bite to my son (after cutting away anything that had touched the wine). I'm sure it hadn't sat in the wine long enough to have made a difference but afterwards I asked my husband if it was weird I did that and he was like "Uh, no...In fact I didn't even realize you cut away the parts that touched the wine!" #badparents

Yeah, the alcohol is more of a flavor...we make soaghetti sauce with red wine.

Thanks for your responses guys! I wouldn't think twice about it but the topic came up among some mom friends and I thought I'd get some more opinions. I'm specifically thinking of a chocolate cupcake recipe with beer in it. Mmmmm!

Yes. My tomato sauce recipe calls for red wine and I make it pretty often. I also made a red wine chocolate cake for my DH's birthday, which was delicious and my LOs loved it.

I haven't yet, but probably will when she's older (LO is 19 months now). Even though most of the alcohol cooks out, a bit still usually remains. For now, I just substitute extra liquid and/or a splash of some kind of vinegar. Alcohol isn't integral to most of the recipes (no penne alla vodka!) so I don't miss it that much.

Cooked so most of the alcohol is gone, cakes, muffins, sauces, that sort of thing.
