That video is catchy! LO listens to whatever we listen to now and I'm sure there is a curse word here or there but she isn't old enough to catch on yet. I would not expose her to it intentionally.

Metric is my favorite band, and the other day we were listening to Guns, Gold, Girls, and she started saying 'off! off! off!', and I though hmmmmmmm. That really isn't proper.

The video isn't working. =/

But to answer the original question, nope...we don't listen to mainstream music anyways so it's not usually a problem. If we're at a place of business G is old enough to know it's language we don't use and just overlooks it which is better than the days when he would very publicly point it out... sure we'll get to go through that again here soon enough with P! O_o

@MamaMoose: Thanks!!

It has a bit of a reek of desperation to it, so I'm not thrilled about... but at least it works (for now). Our hope is that eventually, Olive starts eating better without tricks like these and we can go back to eating at the dinner table!!!

@mrbee: just an idea for something else to try. A good friend of mine had a LO who was a terrible eater. What worked really well for her was to let him stand on a chair in front of the sink, give him a few bath toys, and let him play with the faucet running. He would eat so much better.

That video made me cry, I was laughing so hard. Bravo, Fiat.

I'm careful about bad words around LO, because I was once in an elevator with a woman and her two kids who were about 4 and 7, and the 4yo was calling her brother a "f***ing freak," among other choice words. The mom was rapidly turning beet red.

Not on purpose. If a song plays that has a curse word in it I don't make a big deal about it but I won't play it again.

I haven't been able to decide how I'll handle this with a LO, because I listen to music with a lot of cursing and have since I was young. No idea how/why my super-strict parents overlooked the fact that I was listening to hard-core rap before I was 10. But just because I knew not to copy what they were saying doesn't mean my child will know too!

@.twist.: my brother had the same problem with his kids and "I'm sexy & I know it" really now do you tell a 4 year old and 7 year old that it isn't appropriate for them to say.

Funny story that isn't that funny if you REALLY think about the message some music is sending. My hair dresser & her kids were jamming to some song (of course I can't remember which one) & her 13 year old daughter goes OMG mom ewww do you know what this song is about!? Her daughter whispered oral sex into her ear and she shut it off right away. Her other kids didn't know any better they just liked the song cause they thought it was cool & she was creeped out that her daughter knew more about it then she did.

haha. I haven't really decided one way or the other about this. I find it hard to make the right decision because I listen to a LOT of music with curses in it.

I do know that our youngest has started singing "I'm sexy and I know it" and that kind of bugs me... So I'm not sure to be honest!!

That is hilarious about Charlie!!!!

We were desperate to get Olive eating more, so we let her watch this video a few times during dinner (a huge no no for us, but oh well):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNVde5HPhYo

It worked for a while! But then it stopped working... and shortly after I realized that Charlie had been listening the whole time, when I heard him rap the line, "I got my bitches at my side and my hose in the back."

He had no idea what it meant, but he sure loved to say it! So I decided to retire that particular video... no more rap or hiphop for him until he's a bit older!

Do you let your kids listen to songs with curse words in them?
