I would probably only let LO chew board books (this is all in theory though).

We have but we put a stop to it when she gnaws a hole through the book. Yeah, maybe we let it go to far.. !

She puts everything in her mouth (7 months) and I try to stop her, it's all part of learning though. I have definetely been keeping the nicer books up and away for now.

I just make sure he has board books. Oddly enough it's the ONLY thing he doesn't put in his mouth. :/

I let her chew on it. She stopped chewing books around the 11 month mark. She's finally better about "reading" the books than eating them.

I let her because she never really chewed on them that long. At this age, we're working on not chewing on them while we're reading, "Books are for reading, M, not dessert."

We just don't really let him have books with paper pages yet. He has lots of board books that he can chew on flip the pages. He's too rough with the other books and ruins them quickly, even if we are holding them and reading them to him.

Yeah I would definitely much rather risk book chomping that to discourage access from books.

I just let her chew on them :) she usually loses interest in chewing pretty quickly!

LO is 5.5 months so everything goes immediately into his chompers. I've stopped letting him gnaw on my fingers since I figure he'll be getting teeth soon, but am unsure of what to do with books.

I know it's a developmental thing and part of learning/growing - and we have lots of board books & a few 'indestructible' books that I could let him go to town on. But do I put nicer books up where he can't get at them once he is more mobile and stop him from touching those?

I hate to feel like I'm interrupting access to books in any way shape or form... but I have to draw a line somewhere right?? How do you handle it?
