I definitely cut her off but she's only 21 months and will eat fruit until she gives herself diarrhea! And she doesn't get citrus because even a small amount gives her a really bad diaper rash.

I also have to cut her off from too much yogurt and beans because too much will upset her stomach.

Unless it upsets their stomach, or they won't eat other food, or if it's just too much financially, I can't imagine cutting my child off from fruit. My older daughter eats 5 to sometimes 10 adult size servings of fruit and veggies daily, and I think it's great. The other night (for dessert) we split one of those personal watermelons three ways. Honestly, we would have eaten more.

I buy a flat of strawberries each week in the summer, and we rarely have any left to freeze.

For those concerned about excess sugar intake, I hope you'll read this article:

https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/07/31/making-the-case-for-eating-fruit/?_r=0

Sugar that comes from fruit should be classed very differently than sugar added to the rest of the food we eat.

Yes, I cut him off. Usually he's good at self regulation, but there are times he would eat bottomless amounts of fruit. Partially, DH and I would like to enjoy some too. And unless we want to spend hundreds of dollars every week on just strawberries and blueberries, there would never be enough.

One fruit (or equivalent serving) per meal/snack. I don't want her getting too much of her food intake from sugar. I have made exceptions when she was sick or recovering from something mildly traumatic, and I've seen her plow through four clementines. Seven is a lot!

Fruit and cheese are the only things that she asks for more and I don't provide. Typically those are the only things she wants more of though!

I don't cut my kiddo off, but I do get her to pause eating her faves if she hasn't eaten anything else. She can have more once she has had a few bites of protein/ veggies. My kiddo doesn't tend to overeat so I'm not worried about it too much.

I watched my 4 year old polish off a pint of blueberries 2 days ago and asked for more. As long as she is getting a balanced diet I'll take her eating a lot of fruit over other junk any day. She's never had issues with stool, I do get concerned about acidity though!

I've never had to cut them off, but at a certain point I guess I would. My friend once was telling me that her four year old daughter had spent the night throwing up, and I said "Oh no, do you think it was something she ate?" and she said "I can't think of what it could have been, all she ate yesterday was eight apples!" I was like "Um...yeah, I think that might have been it."

I think E would only eat fruit if I let him. I want him to have room for a variety of foods so I have to cut him off. He would eat 7+ clementines every day and then want nothing else!

For my older one I do cut her off. I usually only give fruit after she's eaten her meal (or parts of her meal) because otherwise that's all she would eat. By some things I worry will give her an upset stomach if she just keeps going, or sometimes I just don't want to cut/ open another container.

The baby just doesn't eat much fruit anyway so I've never had to cut her off.

Yes I cut her off. Fruit acids can really mess with her stomach. And, well, the sheer volume of sugar plays into the limits as well. She'd happily fill herself up on purely fruit all day long so I have to draw the line somewhere.

Yes, I cut my children off. But it's more about moderation than anything. My thinking is that just because it's healthy, doesn't mean they should eat unlimited quantities. And besides, it fills them up and I want them to eat a decent dinner too.

I cut off my kids because they have no self control when it comes to fruit. I usually cut up a bowl of fruit for both of them to share, and it's a big competition to see who can eat the fastest/most.
