A water gun sounds OK but not a real looking fake gun.

I am ok with play guns, but I really think that a play squirt gun is different then realistic looking guns.

@Coco Bee: I guess it's just a boy thing. DH pretended to shoot my LO just by making a gun from his hand the other day and that bothered me! I said, "Do not shoot my baby!" Lol. But like you said DH is a boy and he grew up doing things like that.... and he turned out ok! I do think it's normal and I get it, I've just always been overly sensitive to violence so things like that will always bother me.

water guns are no big deal IMO.

I never liked the idea of more realistic types of guns for DS but DH is adamant that we shouldn't ban him from toy guns; firstly because he's a boy and every boy (and I do know this to be true from my brothers) will fashion a gun from ANYTHING they can find; legos, banana, barbies (no joke). Secondly- my DH said he had a ton of fun playing "guns" as a boy. I said, fine, but we'll teach him not to shoot people. And DH whined again! He said that was "the best part" and he and his brothers always shot each other.
*sighs*
I have a feeling I will not win this one.

The only thing that we have with a trigger would be our bubble blowers, so I am okay with them in that configuration. I am still not sure about the bigger water guns, because I am uncomfortable with kids taking aim at each other, no matter what they are using, even hoses.

I thought most 'realistic' toy guns were now illegal/banned? I don't think water guns are a big deal, either.

We went to a birthday party and favors were beach toys, which included a water gun. The mom asked if it was ok because it's a toy gun before giving us the favor. I said yes, I'm ok with toy guns, just not real guns. Although I'm not so sure if I am ok with realistic looking toy guns.....
