My LO is 9 months and we just started keeping two toys in his crib. He doesn't use pacifiers anymore so we put a Nuby teething ring in there. We also put a very small stuffed animal (one with taggies) in there. For naps, we will give one to him as we sit him down in the crib and it helps distract him as we walk out of the room. He fusses for a minute or two and then plays quietly for about 5 to 10 minutes before he lays himself down. I'm really happy with how well it's worked the past week!! Much better than the screaming fits we were dealing with a few weeks ago. And the teething ring has been good in the AMs when he wakes up so that he's sucking on that instead of his hands until I go in to get him.

My LO has always loved playing in his crib, but we don't leave toys in there at night or naptime. Sometimes I wonder if he would do better at napping in his crib if he didn't also play in there.

I used to... then he started playing alllll the time and completely skipping naps. He keeps a stuffed elephant, blanket and pacifier in the crib. If he's "playing" he likes to throw them all out of the crib and cry until I come give them back to him.

DD is almost 9 months and has a few stuffed animals in her cot that we just keep in there all the time. She loves her 'friends' and will happily play with them for a while before going to sleep. They're also a great distraction when she wakes up, especially if it's not time for her to get up yet. She'll play with them for a little while and then put herself back to sleep, it's great!

Yes. She as a few soft toys to play with when she wakes or is going down. We have other toys that we will put in there if we put her there specifically to play.

I put toys in her crib to distract her from us leaving (and start her crying). She'll play with the toys for a little bit before passing out. It's worked for us :-)

M;y DD is 8 months old and she has a few toys in her crib and I find that it doesn't distract her. She has her Sophie teether, a Hanna Anderson doll and her Aden lovey. Even if I don't put any toys in there, she ends up playing with something anyway (her feet or her blanket). In the morning, she wakes up and plays with her toys for a good 20 minutes before she starts whining, which is great because it gives me 20 minutes of extra sleep! :)

My LO is also 8 months and I let him play with stuff in his crib. at night he only goes to bed with a pacifier and lovey, but if I put him back in there to shower or even just to go to the bathroom, I stick a few toys in with him. It doesnt seem to confuse him. He loves playing around in there!

My LO sleeps with stuffed animals and it does not distract him from sleeping. It's more of a comfort item. Sometimes he will play with his sleeping buddies once he wakes up.

My LO is 8 months old, and I've always kept toys out of the crib because I want him to associate his crib as a place of sleeping, not playing. However, even without toys in the crib, he still plays around instead of napping, even when I know he's tired! So, do you have any toys in the crib, and does it distract your LO from sleeping? I admit, it's sometimes nice to find him waking up from a nap happily playing by himself though. :D
