We didn't say anything at first and just smiled but after around 10 minutes, I just told her that maybe they shouldn't do that cause they can get hurt. She says to me "Oh, that's ok. But, just like his dad, he already has this weird fear of heights so he's suuuuuper careful when he climbs onto things. I bought him a step stool (and it's like 3 inches off the ground) and he made me hold his hold while he got off and on. So I'm not that worried about him getting hurt from climbing on/off the couch. It would be confusing to say it is off limits if DH and I are still sitting on it. I would say don't let your kids jump up and down on it. My friend started to let her son do that and it has proven to be a very hard habit to break.
