I was pretty careful with her and them, for a long time, since you never know how an animal will react to a child poking it and squealing at it and such. I don't see the point of restricting due to shedding, your LO is going to come in contact with fur in every single other room in the house, no? Also, I don't want to create animosity between cat and baby, or create a situation where the animal gets extra curious because it's an "off-limits" area. It's soooo sad, though, b/c our dog loves to hang out with me and she often whines when I'm in there feeding him. She is, however, allowed to go into my oldest son's room but just on his bed. Once everything is set up and when the baby is here he will be allowed in. He doesn't really shed and doesn't have accidents and we keep him very clean. My daughter sleeps on a floorbed (12 months) and one of our big dogs often naps with her. If not, they sleep outside the door to make sure she doesn't escape, or something. My dad insists that we need to leave them out (and he adores our furbabies).
