Unfortunately we do. He is a terrible eater so when we tried to transition him from purées to food it didn't go well so we found ourselves constantly trying to get him to eat food and offering and I now realize he has turned into a snacker because of this!

Oh well hopefully we can redeem ourselves with our second.

My LO wants to snack ALLL day too. She eats well at meals but I try to limit it to three snacks a day. She screams and cries and has a fit constantly even with three a day though.

If it didn't affect his mealtimes, and he was eating a large/nutritious meal and then was just still hungry in between, then yes I would let him snack.

As it is, I try to limit snacks, but I can't eliminate them because he tends to not eat enough at meals, and then gets hungry in between--but refuses to eat more at mealtime. I'm not going to let him be hungry or cranky, but I try not to let him snack if we're an hour or less away from a meal.

As long as she still eats her meals, and she's not eating junk, then I let her eat snacks.

Yep, for the most part we let him whenever he wants. He has set meal times and eats well at all three... usually has a big snack after bfast and after lunch... if he wants a lil fruit or cheerios in between that, we let him have it

Yes, it normally doesn't affect her meal time, and I try to give healthy options of fruit, veggies, ect.

@delight: I don't think he really started snacking until after he weaned. Come to think of it, it's probably just been in the last two months. Especially now that he can open doors. It doesn't seem to be affecting his meals but it's probably not the most healthy things. He usually wants those Gerber crunchies, or pretzels, or animal crackers.

When are you supposed to start snacks?! At 10 months we just do 3 meals a day, she still BF before and after her 2 naps. If we go out on a walk or to the mall she usually has a cookie or mum mum, but otherwise we don't do snacks.

No, we try to focus on set meals. He will sometimes have a snack as a treat, but between meals he usually just has milk (and water).

I try not to only because it does affect his meals. He gets a morning and afternoon snack at daycare so I just follow the same schedule on the weekends.

Yup, it doesn't affect her meals so I let her. I try to follow the same snack schedule as daycare. But when she's home she probably snacks more frequently.

ETA : *I* can't go between meals without eating something so I don't expect her to!

I'm so interested in this! I think L could snack all day long, but right now we do planned meals and snacks. He's a little too young to do any independent grazing.

My 15-month-old likes to graze all day long. He constantly is going into the pantry and taking things out. He also eats really well at meals. If your little one wants to snack do you let them? Or do you limit them to specific times?
