Ha, my job basically consists of my giving my opinion to other people. I pretty much need them to believe I'm right in order to keep my job. So yes, I love being right!

I like being right haha. My DH is ALWAYS right though (it seems), so now I go along with whatever he says most of the time.

Oh, I LOVE being right, though it doesn't really apply to my work, since I have to be objective/unbiased, and therefore, there is no "right" or "wrong."

But when it comes to being right in other circumstances? Yup. I am totally that person who will get into a debate and then whip out my phone to Google whatever the issue is so I can prove I'm right. Then I gloat.

Love being right. Especially when it comes to DH because he makes fun of my college education (our schools are rivals) so I like to come back with, "that's your school's education for you."

I don't feel the need to be right at all. I like things to be resolved - so if that means backing down, meeting somebody half way or apologising (when I don't really think I was in the wrong) I'm more than happy to do that. DH on the other hand loves, loves, loves to be right. So, if I want to get my own way, I will find a way for him to suggest the outcome I want!!

@prettylizy: You see, I actually feel that way about being an agent/broker! My DH prefers it, he started out as an underwriter, but I would be too stressed having to keep everything straight for the client and worry about my E&O. There are a lot of rules to keep straight with underwriting though, especially with the products I work on but I also have a ton of resources.

Yes, I have to wine and dine my brokers a lot - which is fun to do here in NYC with so many nice restaurants. And we have nerdy insurance parties too :)

@Modern Daisy: Insurance nerds unite indeed! I could NEVER be an UW, too much stress trying to keep all the rules straight. I think as agents we get so excited when we know something an UW doesn't because it's so rare. We do secret High fives with eachother, though we never rub it in the UW's face.

One of the best things our company did was getting agents and underwriters together in a room for lunch when we're at our head office for training. It's a lot easier to be nice to someone when you they have a face and are nice than when they are just a signature at the bottom of an email.

My brother does that same exact job at an insurance company...he says they always hate to see him coming, lol

But yes, I love being right. I've been to court twice in my life (once was a roommate issue, the other was dealing with DS's dad's visitation), and both times I won, cause I stuck to my guns. When I'm right, I'm right! lol

Haha I am an underwriter and my DH is a broker! :) I like underwriting a lot, especially since I do management liability. It's a lot of financial analaysis but also requires creative thinking. My more sophisticated brokers are usually right most of the time though when they ask for changes to the policy - it's just a question of whether or not I'm willing to do it lol! :) Ahh, insurance nerds unite!

But to answer your question, yes I do love being right although I'm careful about gloating about it esp at work. There have been times when I've caught big mistakes made by people above me and it's always tricky how you alert them to the mistake and suggested correction - they don't like to be told that they are wrong! At home it's actually refreshing to be wrong because I feel like I'm not the one steering the ship 100% of the time.

@.twist.: so true. I knew I was right going into this one and they pushed back. We are almost entirely regulated on the auto side of things so there really isn't any room for interpretation and when they started pushing back I got a goofy grin on my face and was like "It's go time b!tc#e$"

OH man. You better believe it. I have to approve invoices before we pay them for our company. This means that the invoices take a little bit of checking over (it's not as simple as making sure the amount is right in Oil & Gas, there is land, and fees and penalties and wells etc, that need to be looked into). I also look over a LOT of documents to approve them before we agree with the terms. So I write a LOT of emails and letters asking people "why doesn't this match our records?" "why is this that way?" "We believe this should be written like this." etc.

It feels AMAZING when I KNOW I'm right and they have to fix their mistakes. The most gratifying is when they FIGHT me on every detail and in the end have to give up because I just freaking know what I'm talking about and they didn't do their due diligence! hahaha

Yes. Omg yes. I usually don't argue unless i'm certain that i'm right. It was hard working in customer service because the customer always 'had' to be right which drove me batty!

I work in insurance and on a daily basis have to deal with underwriters (who are basically the rules police for policies). Anyways, on rare occasions, underwriters will make changes based on how they view a risk and as an agent I'm supposed to advocate for the client instead of the company. I had this happen the other day and after multiple emails it turns out I was right (*fist pump*) and it just feels SOOOOO good. I love being right, and it's almost embarassing how much I LURVE being right! lol!
