We live in a small apartment but we have a sleeper sofa so it works out. Also the bedrooms are upstairs so we don't risk waking the baby up. I'd much rather have people visit us than us visit them sometimes because her sleep is better (though she sleeps OK on travel but I worry about people waking her up in certain configurations). Since I have been married we have always been living in a smaller place with no guest room and 1 bathroom so it is always a huge pain to have people stay with us. The only over night guests we have had have been my in laws so that adds to the stress. We encourage my family to come visit all the time. They'll be here for Easter; all 7 of them for a long weekend. I need my alone/decompression time. Plus, when we have overnight guests, I always find myself being super quiet the next day so as not to wake anyone up too early - I find I can't sleep in when someone's in my house (besides DH and family). I need a certain amount of alone time, and I don't like people in my space. It does depend on the person somewhat.
