Love it! Just started eating it a few years ago. A) can you eat it while pregnant? I did during my pregnancy, even though I was super paranoid abut listeria and the like... B) do your bf babies like it? I always worry about cabbage products for the baby...

I am taiwanese and hubs in Chinese and we both LOVE kimchi! We go through at least a huge jar every month. We make kimchi jiggae (stew) every week as well as kimchi fried rice. Now that it's getting hot, we'll probably ease off on the jiggae though, it's our winter comfort food!

DH and I aren't Korean, but we both like kimchi. I like it more than he does, though. I didn't try it until I got to college, though because my mom didn't like it. It wasn't until I got out of college that I found out my dad really likes kimchi. He just never ate it around my mom because she dislikes it so much.

I've never had natto, but the slime in the pictures doesn't look all that appetizing...

I loved kimchee until I got pregnant...I would just feel sick whenever I ate it. And I think not eating it for so long did something to my taste buds bc while I can eat it now it just doesn't taste as good to me :(

I cannot eat anything spicy. No idea why. My theory is that when my parents had my bro, they raised him on kimchee gook-mool and rice, but by the time they had me they discovered Gerber and I was raised on baby food.

This reminds me of a story my mom told me once... she'd go to a korean restaurant in town for lunch with her coworkers and there was ALWAYS this non-korean guy there enjoying his lunch all alone. When they brought the dishes of ban-chan, he'd eat them all one by one and stack up the dishes as he finished. She said she couldn't stand to watch him eat all that kim chee and khak doo gi and even the slices of raw onion without any rice or anything!

I love kimchi and after living in Korea for a year, it's at a whole new level. I used to like it before and my dad actually tried making it when I was young (he's not Korean but likes spicy food) but now, I've acquired the taste for the year old and buried over winter kind!

The region I stayed in Korea is actually known for their kimchi and the one thing DH said before I left was, "I hope the sweet old ladies don't teach you how to make kimchi!" Sadly, it can't be acquired here - I've found some by way of China in a Thai store and it passed, but they never restocked. During the early stages of my pregnancy, I craved it so badly that I resorted to buying the freeze-dried kind on Ebay!

I recently been in contact with the student that gave me a jug his grandma's year old kimchi and I'm tempted to ask for the recipe. Poor DH!

I've never had kimchi. I've heard of it but never had it. What is it? I'm vietnamese and don't have any Korean friends. People do ask me if I like fish sauce. I do! I mean not straight from the bottle but made into nuoc mam. Yum! Or great as a mango dipping sauce (fish sauce, sugar, red chili).

I love kimchi but I'm korean. My husband is Korean but he doesn't like fresh kimchi, only when it's in jjigae or fried rice. I had a non-Korean friend who was obsessed with ggakdoogi and chonggak kimchi, which I found hilarious!
I used to love Spam until I sliced one and found an interesting specimen nestled in the "meat".
