When my sister and I were at the grocery store over Thanksgiving weekend, she saw something that said "mincemeat" in the dessert area and was, "Ugh, gross!" I usually buy them in boxes of 6 from the supermarket but this year I cant have them because I have GD. </p> <p>For those who don't know, mince pies are shortcrust pastry pies filled with "mincemeat", which is a mixture of currants, raisins, sugar, apples, candied peel, spices, and suet. </p> <p>I'm attempting some low carb mince pies this week. I made my mincemeat today, with cranberries, walnuts, a few raisins, lemon and orange zest and sweetener. I'm going to try almond flour pastry too (wish me luck!!). </p> <p>Do you like mince pies? Are they popular where you live? </p>
