I'm glad to have started young (I always thought I'd have kids in my 30s). I didn't have a ton of time to just be young/married/childless, but I'm looking forward to being in my early 40s when my kids are graduated and moved out of the house, and I expect we will be better off financially at that point and will finish up our travel dreams and selfish-type spending at that point. I'd rather do it then than in my early 20s when I was broke. Obviously I am just assuming that we'll be rolling in the money by that point, but that's my hope. I'm so glad I adhered to that - I lived abroad for most of my 20s, travelled around the world, and just lived the dream life. Your 20's are the easiest time to "do you"; it will never be that easy to focus on yourself. I'm glad I spent my 20's exploring the world without the restrictions children place on you. I'm really happy with the timing, waiting has allowed me to have an absolute blast and made my transition to motherhood easier. I grew up alot when he was born and he is my little man. I am now married and pregnant with DH's and I's first child together at the age of 23.
