It's a bit depressing being in Australia for the holidays as you just can't get into the holiday spirit when it's blazing hot outside and everyone's heading to the beach, but fortunately, we're heading off to the UK at the start of Dec and will then be in the States by Christmas Eve so we'll have a good dose of 'proper Christmas' this year! </p> <p>DH keeps trying to convince me that a barbie on the beach to celebrate Christmas Day is a lot of fun, but I'm not convinced. Luckily I had my sister so we would watch Friends marathons together and veg out while everyone else spent time with their families.</p> <p>I think Thanksgiving was the loneliest bc that is the one holiday that is completely centered on family. At least Christmas there's tons of parties and gift exchanges going on so it wasn't as bad.</p> <p>Every year around the holidays I think about how hard they must be for those without family, friends, or loved ones. I hated Christmas because my dad would complain about money the whole time and my mom would yell about everything else. It was awful. She's mellowed out though, and now that I don't live at home I don't have to listen to my dad's complaining.</p> <p>My DH and I are not like that at all!! Somewhere along the line I totally drank the koolaide...err, hot chocolate...and now I love the whole time period between Halloween and New Years!</p> <p>I'm even more excited now that I have DS...personalized stockings and ornaments and Christmas Eve present of a Christmas movie, book, popcorn, and PJ's, oh my! I can't wait until he's able to appreciate it!</p> <p>This year my SIL are planning on getting matching footed pajamas for all 5 little boys...just have to find some for babies and children! </p>
