Poor husband didn't get it at first, but he's better now. I watch my friend's 14 month old LO from time to time and she is super interested in the toilet. Anytime I go to the bathroom, she follows me in and all but climbs into my lap. I learned once early on that closing the door results in a 30 minute melt down. I start getting this weird overwhelming claustrophobic feeling if I get no alone time for days in a row. DH knows and respects this, so whenever I want alone time I just tell him that I really want my space and if its ok that he not talk to me and leave me alone for a night. He's perfectly fine with it so he'll just be on his computer in the office area while I veg out quietly by myself in front of the tv, or I'll hide out in our room to read or browse the web with zero disturbances. I think being unemployed right now leaves him a lot of freedom during the day, so he just doesn't always remember that I worked 11hrs yesterday and I don't want to make protein bars- I want to sleep! @LMOG47: Yup. That happened. Here are some. He's very kind about doing things for me (I have some health issues that also make me tired) and most of the time will do things if I ask, I just feel guilty about it. My husband is also home alone during the day & when I get home all I wanna do is hole up in a room by myself with a book or trashy tv with no interruptions. DH and I used to work in the same lab, so not only was I around people all day, I spent all day every day with him! It was so much better for me when we moved and got our own offices. I also really like working from home like I'm doing this summer, but sometimes DH decides to work from home too and it makes me a little bit sad! I really do like being with him but I need my alone time too. One of the biggest tensions in my marriage has been that my husband and I are both introverts who really need alone time - and obviously that is difficult to come by when we have a child to care for. Getting everyone's needs met (if not some every day, at least some every week) for togetherness AND alone time is the hardest work I do in my marriage. It is SO rewarding when we get it all figured out and we all get our needs met - it makes us so much happier and healthier and balanced. DH has been getting me up at the ass crack of dawn each day, 445-530, but i haven't been sleeping much at night, so i'm exhausted! last night he insisted we try making different homemade protein bars at 11pm, why?!?!? i just sent DH to the library to do some stuff because i needed to be alone. i don't want anyone touching me, asking me for things, expecting me to be super nice when conversing... I WANNA BE LEFT THE EFF ALONE! hahaha. i'm awful. do you like to be alone? what do you do when you need space?
