I just got an e-mail about an office lunch tomorrow at a restaurant downtown. I am not scheduled to work and I have finals to study for, so I am not sure if I will go. </p> <p>Our boss will usually buy us lunch a few times a year, usually after reaching some big goal. Out department has a potluck lunch on Friday, but usually people get their plates and go eat at their desks. Which is ok with me, I don't work a lot of people that I have anything in common with. DH's party is on Friday night. I am nervous about it. I will only know about 6 or 7 people there. Without any cocktails in me, I know that I am going to be shy. I just feel awkward trying to make conversation with people that I don't know. We're having two office parties this year - one this Thursday after work ar the office for the whole office (2 companies) and a dinner out next Friday with just our employees. The company I work for wanted to do a big dinner out but left the planning to the last minute, so instead we're doing an eat-in event where the boss picks up the tab for the food. </p> <p>I'm really looking forward to it. Where we work there are several groups of people who never mingle, and this is one of the few times we all get together. Even if I do bring a dessert or something, I think it's fun. </p>
