I like my name and the way it is pronounced, but my parents didn't spell it phonetically so it always get mispronounced. It is also unique which I like, but people always forget how to pronounce it and it's soooo annoying correcting people multiple times so I usually just give up. For my son, I wanted to give him something relatively unique but with only one pronunciation so he wouldn't have to repeat himself multiple times in introductions for people to forget anyway :)

Yeah! I do. I didn't used to, but its grown on me. It's not very original of a name but I don't know many people that have the same one. The only hang up is that it can be gender neutral so I often get Dear Mr. so and so in emails and correspondence.

As a child, not really, but only because I couldn't find stickers of pencils with it on them! It bothered me! But luckily I was never picked on for my name. Now my name is actually popular, so lots of little girls have it which is crazy! '87-'12=BIG changes in names!

Its ok, never loved or really hated my name, it just is what it is. I really don't meet many other people named Frances around- and when I do, usually it is someones' ancient granny.

My husband's name is super popular when he was growing up, so we wanted a happy medium. There are definitely some names that we have liked that we decided went too far out there, but we are also keeping our choice out of the top most common names.

I have always haaaaated my name. My full name is Christina but my parents called me Tina from day one... I went by Christina for a while after I moved in 3rd grade because the kids in my new school called me Tina Turner. Finally when I got to college I got frustrated with the confusion and started going by Tina, since that's what my family and all my lifelong friends called me. But I swear, every time in a story or TV show or movie there's a mistress, stripper, prostitute, cheerleader, or ditz, her name is TINA. It's a running joke in our house now... "it's always TINA."

I share my name with a million other 80s baby girls, but something that's unique is that my name is usually short for something (like Katherine, Katelyn, or Katrina), but my full, given name is Katie.
I've been told I look like a Jenn, or a Lauren (which is ironically my middle name).

I adore my name. I can't remember a time where I didn't love it. I am named after a street in Austin, Tx. Stassney Lane. However my middle name is Layne.

When my parents named me that they thought we would never live in Austin. When I was 13 we moved there. Even though I love my name, I did get sick of constantly hearing "Did you know that's a road?" and having to say things like.. "you know.. Stassney, just like the road" to try to explain how to pronounce or spell it. I even had one guy want to see my ID because he didn't believe me. But even with all that, I would never want a different name.

@Dr. Pepper: I'm also a Brooke, and I seem to have a million nicknames. Brookie (obvs), Cookie, Brookifer, Brooklyn, Brooker. Mall Santa heard my name wrong as a toddler, and called me Buck, which also stuck for a while.

I love my name, though someone once told me Brooke is a "trailer trash" name. I don't personally know anybody with it, I have a few internet friends with the same name. I kinda wanted to name my daughter Brooklyn as a play on mine, and our hypothetical son Jacoby after my hubs Jacob. Ha!

I've never been crazy about my name. It was one of the most popular names for girls my age (Nicole) and I was always one of several in my classes. The only redeeming quality is that I'm named for my dad.
DH has a common name for our age too so we're definitely looking for more uncommon names but ones that are still pronouncable & common enough. (Growing up my best friend's name was Uryna)

I LOVE my name now! Growing up, I didn't love it as much. I remember asking my mom why she hadn't named me something "normal" like Ashley or Kaitlynne? (My two best friends).

That faded very quickly, probably around age 12-13. I absolutely ADORE my name and the fact that not too many people my age have it. I get told a LOT how much people like my name. It's becoming popular in the younger ages, but as someone in their 20s that isn't an issue. Haha.

I want our future kids to have names that aren't too terribly popular, though nothing completely off the wall either. I tend to lean toward the classic/family names with a hint of different.

I love my name, Tana. In school I had a lot of trouble with teacher mispronouncing it (it rhymes with Hannah), but I never cared. I like it because I have never met anyone else with the same name. I have seen the name in other places though.

I think having a somewhat unique name has made it hard for me to decide on baby names. I want my kids to have the same experience I did, that is not having anyone else in their class with the same name.
