I've never met another person with it. I do have to correct people on the pronunciation a lot. It's very common (Jessica), so I don't love that. But I do love that I never have to spell it for anyone. So I'd rather have Jessica than a name that's difficult to pronounce or is always spelled incorrectly. No I am not a fan of my name for many reasons: 1) My parents used an alternate spelling and that generates unnecessary convos IMO such as "can you spell that again?" " that's unusual/ creative" "I like the way you spell it" etc. 2) My name sounds very childish, and even though I know a doctor with the same name I cannot help, but think she's a female Doogie Howser 3) My name is easily shortened and people often do- Casual acquaintances, co-workers. I don't mind the nickname, but since I do not introduce myself that way and my friends and family use my full name 90% of the time I am always unsure should I sign my name (ex email) with my nickname 4) My name is racially ambiguous and as such has been a source of ridicule, as if I could have picked my name and raised myself the way I was raised. It wasn't super common (around here) when I was a kid, but now it's VERY common. It's also spelled like 20 different ways, I rarely meet someone who has the same spelling as I do!
