I mostly listen to voicemails because I only get them from family and I assume they have something important to tell me. When I moved out on my own I had a personal cell, a house phone and a work blackberry. They would regularly call each one and leave a long rambly voicemail on each saying the same exact thing.</p> <p>I hate to admit this, but I still have a work blackberry and the voicemail box has been full for over 2 years. I don't even know how to check them. It's rare that I use it as a phone though and I get tons of telemarketing calls and bill collectors for the person who owned the number before me. I don't like talking on the phone so if I listen to the voicemail I often don't have to call the person back, I can just text whatever answer it is that they need. (Or at least know if they need a call back urgently or I can wait until it is convenient). </p> <p>It also annoys me if I do leave a voicemail for someone and they call me back rather than listening to it. In general if what I want to say could be said via text-- I wouldn't have called in the first place. I hate the phone so I'm only calling if I have a reason to call. But at the same time that doesn't necessarily mean that I need a call back at all or right away. Usually this happens when I need to request something too long winded for text or if I'm driving. The person this happens most frequently with is my husband. Like I'll be out running errands and decide to pop into the grocery store. So I'll call him (because I'm driving and it is dangerous to text) to find out if he wants or needs anything. Except he doesn't answer so I leave a voicemail saying "Hey I'm headed to the grocery. I won't hear my phone if it rings in the store but I'll check my texts before I check out so just text me what you want." But then he sees I called and just calls me back without listening to the message. But I don't get the call and don't see he called until I'm about to check out (and the grocery store is the MOST annoying place to try to make a call because I never get service and LO is always grabbing for my phone because I wear her)...</p> <p>So yea. If I leave you a message, just listen to it.
