We live in a condo complex, and while the community itself is not gated (driveways are all open), you need an electronic key to get into all the buildings and garages. We did live in a gated apartment complex. But I didn't see the point because cars would just wait for someone to open the gate and then drive through. I like that it's open &amp; inviting but I can see the advantages of a gate.
