I grew up in the country in the middle of no where so it gave me a false sense of safety I think. We live in a city now so I know I probably should lock it but I still don't. DH had his radar detector stolen just the other week. He was moving DS into the house in his car seat and forgot to lock his car. Thankfully no broken window, but we just moved into the neighborhood less than 2 weeks. So that sucked. My FIL lives in a really nice neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac and he always used to leave his truck unlocked with the keys on the running board. One day he went out to go to work and the truck was gone! We live in a small country town about 5 minutes from town down a secluded road. The road dead ends & turns into a driveway for 5 houses that house us & my in-laws. Everyone here assumes you have a gun & with family around there are plenty of eyes. DH used to leave his keys in the ignition (MIL still does) but now he takes them & locks his doors. Not sure why.
