I do love where we live. It's a smaller community that is more family oriented with great schools. And I'm only 20 minutes away from the downtown area where all the great restaurants, museums, and theaters are.

I love our house, our neighborhood; I can't stand MI winters, but it's a decision we made to stick around (since our parents are here and we both grew up here and our jobs/careers are secure).

YES! The home we bought is much more than we dreamed of having. Really lucked out. Great Neighborhood. Nice and quiet country setting and our own little chunk of land with a beautiful view of the water.

Yes and no! We live on the opposite side of town from our parents, so its a long drive to their houses (they live 11 miles away, but when you can only go 25, it takes a while!). I do love that we live out of town, but still close enough. I wish our house was bigger though. Its a good starter though! :)

Not really. We love our house and if we could pick it up and move it to a different town, we would. It's not the town that bugs us but the schools. That was just poor planning on our part. We bought 4 years ago when we weren't sure we would have kids. Now we are having one and we're looking at the schools and are worried. I'll be sad someday (to say goodbye to our home) when we do move (probably before our LO gets to HS).

I love our house that we live in for now, however as soon as our kids are school age we will move to a smaller community, which is the lifestyle we want to raise our children in. I want htem to know the names of all their classmates (which seems crazy to city people I'm sure) but I only graduated with 50 people!

I love living in Manhattan and I love our apartment. I know that renting is not a permanent solution for us as we want to buy eventually, but for now and the next few years, I love our location and I love our apartment. It meets our needs perfectly (for now).

I love our neighborhood, but for me to go back to work and not have an hour plus commute, we're going to be moving next year most likely. We live south of Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky, in a tiny town that has just about everything we need. I love the feeling of our neighborhood but since we're renting, we're not tied to it.

The one plus is that if/when we move, we're moving to somewhere equally as family friendly, with good schools still. I just wish we could stay here because the houses here are great - not new construction, more like 1940s and still pretty spacious.

Yes, I think that to myself every single day. I really love where we live. Our neighborhood is so family-friendly, safe, quiet, and convenient. Pretty much all my daily outings are within walking distance, including DD's preschool, favorite playgrounds, groceries... Starbucks :) If the weather is bad, we have a playroom downstairs with lots of neighbor playmates/friends....

Our apt is great, but we are running out of space now that Baby 2.0 is here and 5 months old... We do plan to relocate across the country next year and that does make me sad, but I'm happy we lived here for the time that we did and I look forward to being closer to my family and finding another neighborhood and place to love also!

@carrieknitscake: while i love to visit the city, the thought of living there freaks me out. i'm in southern virginia, so the pace of life is much different. my town is for sure not cookie cutter, but it's much slower and simpler than city life!

@photojane: Both of us have lived in the city for almost a decade. Chicago city living is awesome. Our street alone has a strong Hispanic influence as well as yuppie which we are admittedly. I would miss the tacqueria up the street or walking to get my hair cut or the new yoga studio. The suburbs scare me with the cookie cutter-ness of them and how quiet they can be.

yes and no! i love, love my city. it's a nice mix of country/city. it's probably the textbook definition of "suburbia" but it's where i grew up, so i love it. all of our family is here, and it feels like home. right after getting married the dude and i moved about three hours away, but didn't even last a whole year. we moved back as soon as we had the option! that being said, since moving back, we've been living with my parents trying to save up some money. that is not fun! we're moving out at the beginning of year, and i CANNOT WAIT!

I love our condo. We're on a great street in Logan Square. It's very neighborhood-y. During the summer, there's lots of kids around and it's tree lined. Our building is right in between a police station and church while being up the street from an El stop. Further up our street in one direction is a square (not Logan Square). In the other direction, up and over, there's a big park. I love city living. I'd hate to move to the suburbs. Both my husband and I fear it.

I love our house but I do not love where we live :( It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, compared to what I was used to before we moved here anyways. My DH agrees that we don't want to stay forever, hopefully in 3-5 years we will get outta dodge ;) Right now though, I can't really complain, it's a nice community, DH has a great job (with transfer potential! whoop!) and I really liked having DD here.

I love living in Utah, I have so many friends that say they hate it though. It is super conservative and super mormon, but I am conservative and mormon so maybe that is why I love it? I specifically love the city I live in, I am within walking distance of 3 grocery stores, 2 dollar stores, 2 thrift stores, Jamba, the craft store, and so much more.

I love living here in tokyo. When we first moved here, i didn't like it at all and it took me a good 3-6 months to get adjusted but now I really love being here. I like our apartment and the area we live in is great because it is close to so many things plus easy to get to other areas of tokyo from here. The only thing is I know we are not here permanently and soon we will be moving because my husband will likely get transferred elsewhere.

I love our location--it's a fabulous area of NYC with tons of cute shops and restaurants, we're right by two parks, and we're near a ton of transportation options. However, our current apt is a 4th floor walkup (boo!) and while it's big (for NYC standards) the layout is really annoying. Our lease is up in March and I'm ready to move!

Kinda. We moved (I didn't have much of a choice since he changed careers 2 weeks before we got married...) to a town an hour from our hometown. Its okay, but its not my favorite. I want to move back 10-20 minutes away from our hometown eventually. I LOVE where I'm from. Its a small town but its in the middle of 2 nice sized cities and its on the coast. But I'm getting used to it.

Sadly, no. :-(

DH and I used to live in an awesome neighbourhood in Brisbane and we LOVED it! We were in an apt so it wasn't exactly where we wanted to raise a child but we had our sights set on a house in a different neighbourhood just across the river once we got pregnant.

Then, we had a few events occur that changed things for us.

To start, his parents, who had only lived about 45 minutes from us, decided to move back to England. My family is all in the States, so we are now completely isolated here, although we did have a great friend network in Brisbane, along with DH's brother.

Secondly, DH's work situation changed and we ended up having to move to a town 6 hours north of Brisbane where we know absolutely no one. It's an industrial town with absolutely nothing to do and no sort of community whatsoever as most of the workers fly in/fly out. Of course we also found out two weeks before we had to move that we were expecting our first child, so it just makes it that much more difficult going through pregnancy completely alone whilst DH works 70+ hr weeks.

And that's the end of my whinging - sorry! We're going to stick it out for another year and then we'll be looking at moving either to the US to be near my family or to the UK to be near his family. Knowing there's an end in sight makes it tolerable but it's still not very much fun right now.

Yes!! Absolutely love it. We live in a small city in New England that has tons of great restaurants, museums, arts activities, outdoor activities, coffee, things to do, and generally nice people. Our city wins a lot of awards for food and drink, which is good for us as we love to eat and drink. We live in a quiet, residential neighborhood with a park at the end of our street, yet we are still less than 15 min. from downtown, and both live right about 10 minutes from our workplaces. We also live about 5-10 minutes from the rocky coast, the beach, and just a few blocks from a bay of water with a really nice walking/running trail around it.

Right now we live in a condo we love (we bought it together before we got engaged/married), but unfortunately its not really large enough for a family, so we're looking for a house in our same general neighborhood.

I like our city, but not our neighborhood. It is just temporary until we find somewhere to build. We are looking for land in the country. I grew up in the city but am far more comfortable in the small towns or in the country. I do want to be close enough to the city to come in for shopping, the arts, sporting events, etc.

We live on a busy street in a good city, within 20 minutes of CT and MA. It's awfully convenient.

As far as our house, we're renting from the ILs! So, we have the duplex aside theirs. It's great..we're getting a steal for a newly renovated 3 bed, 1.5 bath. We have a fenced in yard, and ILs have a dog, so our dog has a buddy :)

The best part is that we're trying for our first while we're living here (and not owning) because we'll be able to afford for me to stay home! It could definitely be worse.

I don't love our rented townhouse but I loooove our neighborhood. We're just outside Boston city limits, close shopping, parks, public transportation, a mile from my job... so many things to see and do.

We owned a home in NY that we sold last year and were looking to purchase a home when we found out we were expecting. So we put those plans on hold until after baby arrives. Hoping we can find something in this neighborhood.
