Check the location of the tethers, you'll need it for some brands of forward facing car seats. On another board I frequent, there's always someone that's annoyed that their car or SUV doesn't have enough tethers and they have to go through a lot of hoopla to get them installed by the manufacturer or are sometimes told flat out it isn't possible.

I think we're going to buy or lease a small SUV before Baby Habey gets here (a Rav-4 or CR-V). Pretty decent deals right now... less than $300/month with $0 drive off!

I drive a Nissan XTerra and I think it's the coolest mom car ever! It has these awesome seats that wick water/moisture and are totally stain resistant. It also has rubber floors, so it's really easy to keep clean.
On top of that, it has tons of storage, lots of cup holders, an amazing sound system, a snowboard rack, beefy tires, and it's 4-wheel drive for when the snow comes.

We're hoping to get either an Oddesy or Sienna, after a good bit of research. Gas mileage is good and safety ratings on both are great (after 2005). They both drive very well - smooth and good power, and didn't feel enormous. And I like that the 3rd row folds down into the floor.

We test drove a mid-level Sienna and were kind of surprised that a lot of options were only on one side of the car - like the auto close sliding door only on curb side, and power seat adjustments and back of seat pocket only on the drivers side....weird stuff like that. We found the Odyssey has more consistent options in their different trim packages, and had a lot more volume out there in mid-to-high level trim packages for used. But if you're buying brand new and can get the options you want, I think either are great.

We have a Nissan Rogue and it's amazing. Sadly, it's not a 6 seater, but if we were to go that route, it's a Dodge Grand Caravan for sure. Those things are beautiful, and they're really well designed

We have a Toyota Venza that we LOVE... but you can't seat six. My previous car was a Toyota Highlander which I also loved. And with the Highlander you can get an optional third row. I told me husband I refuse to ever drive a minivan so it's SUV's/Crossovers for me!

my husband's 2-door car is dying and we're looking at replacing it with a more family-friendly mid-sized SUV or - yikes - minivan. do you have an SUV or minivan you love?

right now we just have one kid but we're hoping to have one more in the next couple of years. my parents visit fairly often so it would be nice to seat 6 comfortably, but i don't want a super giant SUV that's hard to park. i never saw myself driving a minivan but i've been hearing good things about the odyssey and sienna so maybe it's time to reconsider??
