We are obsessed with a waffle batter recipe from Cook's Illustrated that uses sour cream, buttermilk powder and seltzer water. It sounds strange, but the seltzer water really helps keep the outside crispy and the inside soft. We make waffles almost every weekend!
https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/do-you-make-pancakeswaffles-from-scratch-or-use-a-mix#post-391725 Sun, 11 Nov 2012 13:57:58 +0000 chrispygal 391725@https://boards.hellobee.com/
Scratch, otherwise it's not worth it to me. I can tell when a restaurant uses a mix too. I'm a pancake snob. lol. I haven't had them in ages though - and now I want them! This was my big pregnancy craving for the first 6 months. I would go every weekend and get two pancakes. Mmmm.....
https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/do-you-make-pancakeswaffles-from-scratch-or-use-a-mix#post-391570 Sun, 11 Nov 2012 12:42:13 +0000 Mrs. Pen 391570@https://boards.hellobee.com/
scratch for sure!!! but we make ours with coconut or almond flour.
https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/do-you-make-pancakeswaffles-from-scratch-or-use-a-mix#post-391520 Sun, 11 Nov 2012 12:20:40 +0000 PurplePumps 391520@https://boards.hellobee.com/
@chopsuey119: That's exactly what I just had for breakfast! If you mix till smooth you are likely overmixing and the pancakes may be tough..
https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/do-you-make-pancakeswaffles-from-scratch-or-use-a-mix#post-391315 Sun, 11 Nov 2012 10:27:01 +0000 doodlepoodle 391315@https://boards.hellobee.com/
Scratch here too :) I try to make as much from scratch as I can because we usually have all of the ingredients already (and they're so cheap!) since we're on a budget.
