@Mrs. Jump Rope: DS1 always wants juice, but sometimes can be convinced to have "rain juice" (water) instead :)

Almost never! Only if we are joking around together. Not because I don't want to lie to them... but because I hate the explanations afterwards! He latches on so deeply onto things we say, so when Wagon Sr. makes something up, explaining takes FOREVER. We have to explain what the truth actually is, what we meant by the made-up thing, and why we made it up. Every. Single. Time. I'm a very efficient person so if I'm gonna have to explain the real truth, I'd rather do it the first time, even if he doesn't fully understand!

We lie about what in her cup..

She saw us drinking pop one day and asked for some. We told her she already had pop in her cup! It was water.

Now she calls anything in her sippy pop. Oops.

DH and I plan to tell DS2 he had to be in the hospital because he's bionic, has super strength, etc... But it's his superhero secret :)

Obviously not with my LO, but with other toddlers/pre-schoolers I find myself making up answers to their questions when I either don't know the answer or if it's too complicated to explain and I can't gauge their understanding of the subject! I should probably stop doing it before LO gets to that age, but I figure it's not bad for kids I don't see often ;)

I always told myself I would stick to the science, but sometimes it's fun to just make up stuff. I always tell Charlie afterward I am just joking with him and it cracks him up! But then I tell him that I'll look it up and we dig into it together.
