Thanks everyone for sharing!
So great to hear that many planned to and still do!

I don't plan on buying any equipment. We kinda have a lot of kitchen gadgets....a 3 tier bamboo steamer, a 3 tier stainless steel steamer, a immersion blender, blender/food processor.... :)

The only thing I'll prob purchase is the OXO Baby Food Cube Tray.

Does anyone can their baby food?

I'm not even sure we planned on making our own but we tried it out and found that it was surprisingly easy so we made all of our own. If you taste the jar stuff, it is kinda gross. I wouldn't want to eat it myself. My LO didn't like it either. Homemade tastes a lot better.

I make all of LO's food and I love it! It's not a pain at all, I think it's really fun! It's starting to get a bit tricky as we start introducing new foods (meat!) and textures...But I enjoy it all!

I planned on it before she was born and now we are actually doing it! It is so easy and lots of fun. The other night we boiled a bag of carrots, threw them in the magic bullet and froze in ice cube trays! Usually I try to do larger meals at once so I will bake a squash and a few sweet potatoes and freeze all at once.

I do, and it's a blessing and a curse, because sometimes I need my son to eat jarred food, and he won't touch it. I don't know how he can tell the difference, but he knows.

So, I'd rec that you incorporate some premade things, especially when they eat more foods.

I have a Beaba and love it. I use it to steam veggies for my husband and I too. We don't have the space to make a ton and freeze.

Meant to also say that I don't have any special equipment. I just use a normal bullet blender. I usually just steam veggies in a steam basket on the stove or if I am using it the next day will just microwave veggies.

I make most of LO's food. It's fairly easy as LO eats most of the same foods as we do. So I just chop some extra veggies and cut off some of our meat for LO. Then I just mash the veggies and finely cut up the meat. Usually LO will have for lunch what we had for dinner the night before. I also give LO toast or cous cous sometimes.

I use jar food for last meal of the day, which is usually fruit/ custard or similar. For breakfast LO has cereal.

I make all of LO's food. I tried it with just her and me at home once... and she really freaked out when I ran the magic bullet. So now I make sure to do it when hubby is home so he can take her outside. I usually buy her some fruits and veggies at the store or farmer's market and that motivates me to do it because I don't want the food going bad! I just make a big batch, freeze it in ice cube trays, and then I go a very long time before I have to make more. It's very easy: just steam, magic bullet (or blender, etc), and then I used to strain her food but now she's a better eater so I'm skipping that step.

I make all of ours from organic fresh veggies/fruits. Easiest thing ever! Best tip I can give you is to check out wholesomebabyfood.com. Amazing resource! My mom got me a baby bullet but it's not required :) Have fun!

@regberadaisy: I made and make food for my LO.
I didn't make any food in advance, but used to make fresh food every 2-3 days. Would steam or bake sweet potato and other veggies and fruits, then blend with breast milk. I'm a SAHM so it wasn't too much of a pain. Later on I would boil brown rice + veggies + chicken and blend. Now that LO is older (almost 1) I just give her food we eat.

How many mamas on here make their own baby food?

I know so many of us plan to do it prior to baby's arrival. But just curious how many were actually able to follow through on it.

For those that were able to follow through on it what are your tips for making it happen?

I feel like so many moms to be have this great plan to make their own baby food but when baby comes there's just no time!

Thanks in advance. :)
P.S. For those on WB this is a direct repost. :)
