We haven't started solids yet but I plan to give it a shot! The more fresh veggies and fruits I can give her, the better. I'm sure I'll still used pouch/jar items now and then, but I'm hoping I can manage to make it all.

Yes and it's super easy! I spend a couple hours once a month peeling, cooking, food processing and freezing. It's really that simple and SO inexpensive! I have the Baby Bullet and the storage freezer and little 2 oz bullet containers--love them.

I do and love it do far! It's much cheaper than store bought (a lot more than I thought) and really isn't too time consuming. I make fresh batches of different foods every two weeks and have a continuous rotation in the freezer - at any given time I probably have about 3 weeks worth on hand.

I agree with PP that immersion blender is the way to go for easy clean up! Just steam in pot and use that same pot to blend - less to wash.

Haven't had the baby yet, but we will definitely be making our own baby food. I love that we can pick exactly what goes into the food and can use breast milk.

I didn't intend to but I often do now. I thought I was too lazy to make them and planned to go 100% purchased purees but then I cook things and want him to eat the same stuff as us (obviously simpler for now)--so I just add some pumped milk and blend!

Did it and loved it. I eventually got into the pouches just for ease of transport, and at 13 months I still keep some around in the diaper bag for an easy snack. I loved making babyfood, though. So many fun choices and combinations.

Yup! I try to go for local in season produce that's minimally sprayed. Ie pest management system.
So far I have butternut squash, acorn squash, carrots & peaches.

@caffeinated: I find the immersion blender sooo easy too! I have way too much kitchen gadgets to go buy more. ;P

Yes we just started solids and I make her food with the baby bullet ! I do however buy a jar of a new type of food to see if she likes it before I buy/make/store a bunch that he may not like just yet. (Learned after I made about 12 servings of applesauce and she hated it)
