@Mrs. Goose: yeah I need to be able to get texts too.

I guess overall that one should t have to guess to whether someone else has their phone on silent or not in the room though...just don't send them a message if it's not an appropriate time unless it is important

I email any time. I generally don't text if there is any chance at all the person may be sleeping. I don't call... ever.

I have my phone setup to have do not disturb hours when I'm likely to be sleeping so I don't mind texts or emails at any hour. I only text people late if I know they do the same with their phones.

I use the DND function on my phone too - between the hours of 10 and 7. Unless I KNOW the person is likely to be awake, I don't send a text or call during those hours.

i set the do not disturb too partly because i would get facebook messages really late and it would wake me up (on the messenger app). I tend not to text late either because i never know if it will wake someone

@sapphire: that makes sense. You can't just turn off the texting and leave the phone tone? Although you probably get baby-related texts too?

I don't always text middle of the night...but am currently having bouts of pregnancy insomnia. I am a light sleeper so I would be annoyed if I couldn't turn my phone noise off at night.

@808love: @birdofafeather: Boomerang for Gmail allows me to schedule emails to be sent in the future so I can write all of my responses in the middle of the night like I always do.

I keep my phone on priority only at night so it only vibrates for certain people and most of them keep texting hours unless it's an emergency.

My phone is my alarm clock. I don't text late/early unless I know the receiver would be okay with it. Email is more free reign for me. It's probably not fair, I have notifications turned off for my emails so it doesn't bother me to receive them all hours of the day.

I don't see how emailing matters. But I find it really irritating and rude when people text at odd hours. I need my phone on 24/7 for work reasons and so all those texts come through and wake me up. I don't send messages when I know people are likely sleeping.

If someone texts me after 10 or before 7, I ignore it until those hours.

Email wise, I don't do anything work related until it's during my business hours. I had a client find my phone number (I always use Google voice, so I have no idea how this happened), and texted me at 4:00 am!!! I never responded, and added a "email only" policy into my contract. It's the worst.

I set do not disturb. If someone doesn't observe texting hours with me, then I won't either. Specifically my night owl friend texts me super crazy 1am and I will wake up as an early riser and text her back at 5am. Heehee. If she stops, I'll stop!
I'll email almost anytime. But sometimes I don't want people to know I'm feeling insomniac so I will wait until the morning to send it.

I don't bring my phone in the bedroom, so a beep from a text or email wouldn't wake me up. A call would probably wake either me or DH up and if it was a real emergency, the person would probably try DH's phone too. (Which is in the bedroom. )

Nope, I don't. I text at all hours. But my phone is on silent at night. I feel like if a text is going to wake you up then you should put your phone on silent before you go to bed. Even if it is not someone you know texting you you could get a wrong dial or someone texting the wrong person and that could wake you up.

No I'll text or email at pretty much any time. But I always have my phone on vibrate so text and email notification never wake me up, and I've never had anyone else say they've been woken by a text or email. For the most part though unless it's family or an emergency I only make phone calls between 9am and 9pm.

My husband works nights and LO and I go to bed before he gets home. I leave my phone on in case of emergency. I'd get pretty annoyed if someone was texting my phone nonstop at midnight.

I'll send an email late and don't mind being emailed late but texts and calls are a big no-no unless it's an emergency.

i've noticed that some people text or email at super random/late times. i've put the "do not disturb" on my phone from the hours of 10 pm - 7 am so i don't get notifications from emails or texts or even calls unless they are on my favorites list or call a bunch.

for texting, i don't usually send it unless it's a time i'd also call or it's a mom friend who i know is awake (earlier). for emailing though, i get them all hours of the night, so if i was up and really wanted to send an email, i'd send it along at whatever time.

i was on a group text where one of the ladies sent a group message after midnight. i didn't get it until the next day because of my do not disturb, but one of the girls was kinda upset to receive a text that late because it woke her up!

do you observe texting/emailing hours? does it bother you when others don't?
