All the time for dinners. I need to make enough for everyone's lunches the next day, and sometimes I cook for our housemates too.

DH usually makes huge portions so we all have leftovers to take for lunch.

All the time. I love having leftovers so I don't have to cook as often.

All the time! I love leftovers. Either for lunches or dinner. Depends on how many servings, if 4 then I will double. If 6 or more than I might not or I might just do 1.5x. For some things I won't double the meat but will double the veggies and sauce/liquid- more for less. I also like things saucy so sometimes I'll even 3x or 4x the sauce while only doubling the meat/veggies. Usually not for baking since I can't eat all of that at once unless it's for a party or holidays or something. But I've doubled and tripled things for the holidays.

I've just started doing this with freezer friendly foods like meatballs, taco meat, sloppy joes. I'm going back to work soon and want to have some things for easy weeknight dinners. I never bake because I'm terrible at it.

Not usually--my husband is a stupid picky eater and has a weird aversion to "old food". Plus he doesn't really care for soups, stews, and other things that would freeze well. I've never even tried making casseroles because I know he would hate it, lol.

Yes, and toss one in the freezer. We make Spagetti sauce in bulk- using the pioneer woman's recipe and freeze 10+ servings of Spagetti.

I never double or triple anything while baking, they never come out right and it's supposedly not recommended anyway.

For regular cooking, I haven't followed a recipe in a really long time, I don't actually ever measure stuff like meat or vegetables.

I usually make 4 servings of everything for our 2.5 person family so hubs has some leftovers for lunch. I usually like to make double or triple of recipes that are really time consuming like homemade spaghetti sauce, meatballs, meatloaf and baking stuff like bread dough (I rise it once and then freeze it- defrost in fridge, rise again, bake). I also like to make enormous batches of cookie dough and freeze it in individual cookies so they are always fresh baked- I don't like cookies if they aren't a little warm and gooey.

I should do it more but I mostly do it when I make lasagna. The ingredients just seem to come packaged in the amount for two lasagnas.

I almost always double so that we can have leftovers the next night. Today I quadrupled the filling for chicken lettuce wraps so that I could freeze half :silly:

All the time! We love leftovers, so I almost feel like it is a waste to cook a whole dinner for just one meal. If I have a ton of extra. Ill freeze it in personal portion sized containers.

Depends on how many servings the original makes. If something only makes 4 servings I will almost always double it. If something makes 6+ servings I will double it probably half of the time.

Sometimes I double for leftovers sometimes to freeze. Casseroles are easy to make two pans of - one to eat then and one in a disposable pan to freeze.

When cooking/baking how often do you double/triple the recipe to either have leftovers or to freeze for a later meal?

When I'm making casseroles, soups, chili I almost always double it, if not triple it. It's so much easier to make one larger batch and save for later than it is to make that meal 2-3 times.
