DH and I used to work for the same large company. For many years we worked in different divisions but 3 years ago we both transferred to the same division. I worked with a few of his co-workers but never with him directly. It was fun carpooling to work together everyday.

we haven't, but weirdly, my parents work together and his parents work together as well! It's a really, really weird coincidence. and they're both strong marriages--my parents have been married almost 43 years, and his ~35 or so

We never have, and I think if we had to work in close quarters we would regret it, however I have mentioned to my DH about sales at my current place of business, but he's not interested in switchign.

DH and I worked for the same organization when we met, but in completely separate divisions and buildings. It was totally fine and there were several other couples in the same position as us throughout the organization. However, due to the personnel structure (some employees are unionized and others aren't, there are huge pay scale differences between divisions, etc) it was kind of a relief when I left that job to start law school. Before that, I always felt caught in the middle when friends/coworkers on one side of the fence started sniping about those on the other side, which happened fairly regularly.

DH and I worked for the same store for 4 years. We were in different, but connected, departments (he was in the warehouse, I was in online shipping/CS). It was a tiny place, maybe 20 employees total, and we saw a lot of each other. We took lunch together and our jobs had us in contact repeatedly throughout the day.

But it worked well for us. I tell him I knew that marrying him would be a good idea since we could work together all day and come home and still want to spend time together ;)

My husband replaced me when I left my campus job in college, and later I replaced him at his teaching job when he left to go back to grad school! Great because we can gossip about all the coworkers, and have more fun at the holiday party etc.

My parents worked together my whole life, so it's my normal... It did mean a lot of really dull conversation at the dinner table when I was a kid, where they rehashed meetings and griped about their colleagues.

My husband and I worked together for over four years; he was in engineering and I was in HR in a building of about 30 employees. We rarely worled on projects together, but our office were just a staircase away and we saw each other a lot. It was great! I would do it again in a heartbeat, if I had the chance.

My DH and I own a company and we work together in it side by side. Many people told us it would be a bad idea (we were dating when the company started) but it works totally for us.

That's how we met :-).

My company had three separate office all on the same floor, and DH was transferred to one of the offices after I had already been there more than two years. We never actually had to interact, since we technically worked for different companies. But we arranged coffee dates in the kitchen. :-)

DH and I met at work and worked at the same company for 5 years, which was about 6 months into our marriage. We loved it and miss it all the time. We never worked on the same projects, which was key. I would stop by his desk in the morning and say hi for a few minutes, and we would have lunch together every day, and then I'd usually see him in the afternoon too. We also im'd quite a bit during the day (though we do that now too and work at different places).

It was nice knowing all the same people, understanding each other's work stories and getting to see each other throughout the day without spending every minute together. I always feel like we don't get enough quality time now :(.

We work for the same small company now, and as of this month we actually share an office now. We've worked here together for 3 years now, and see each other throughout the day but not the whole time bc DH works in the field. He has his own stuff and I have mine, the only work we do together is I order the parts he needs.

I was her boss when we met. We worked well together but it was a huge gossip subject for everyone else (ooh lesbians!) and we ran into issues there. We ended up shifting things around so we didn't work directly together anymore. We've since moved to another state and started separate careers. I think I'm thankful that we have different work spaces. I would still consider a position at her department to be closer to her...but for lots of reasons I couldn't be a police officer. :)

DH and I work on the same campus, but it's a huge place and our jobs are in no way related to one another. One of the nice things is that we're able to commute together, which saves on gas and parking, and gives us more time together.

I'm not sure how I would fare if he worked just a few offices away though!

We work for the same small/medium sized company. We work on the same projects for the same clients so we are actually together quite a lot. However, we met at work so it's always been this way!
Honestly, sometimes I think it'll be weird when we don't work together anymore. I don't think we'd both stay her "forever" and I know I'll miss carpooling and lunching together every day :)

Actually DH and I work for the same company. It is *huge*, though. He has to come and do work in my building sometimes so I see him every other day or so. We don't work on the same projects and don't hang out or anything...but he'll come by my desk, say hello, and then go do his business.

Honestly I do not mind and wouldn't as long as we don't interact regularly on work projects. He could work 3 cubes down from me and I would rarely see him.

Yeah, we do, and have had no issues. It is more stressful financially, because we kind of have all of our income eggs in one basket.

I work at a engineering firm as an engineer. DH is looking to change careers and a possible opportunity has come up in a different department. The company is very large, but I work in a satellite office with 8 full time employees. DH would work in the same office, but in a different department. We would rarely, if ever, work on the same things/projects but we would probably only be a few cubes/offices away from each other.

We are talking it over and I wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation. How did it work out? Did you like it, or was it stressful?
