It's usually a mix of both. Since we both work, we sometimes have errands or house projects we have to get done...but then we also try to do something fun for the kids (playground, swim at the Y, get together with friends who have kids, etc).

Saturday mornings are when dd1 and DH go on a date, so that's always a kid friendly activity. We rarely mess with that time as we attribute that to really strengthening their relationship post-baby. Plus DH works long hours and really looks forward to it/loves planning it! Dd2 stays with me during that time and I'm able to get errands/stuff around the house done. Sunday mornings are always church as a family. The afternoon/evenings of each weekend day is a mix.

it's a mix. usually more kid-centric, though sometimes I need to work, or we have social or family plans. if we don't have plans though, we usually plan around lo while still keeping our own preferences in mind, like if there's something we really want to do (like a restaurant to try for brunch), we'll look for playgrounds or play spaces nearby that lo might like

Both? We have a healthy mix of kid-friendly activities, hanging around the house, running errands, etc. we never do anything completely anti-kid with them.

we really center our weekend schedules around the kids. i'm sure i'm raising absolute narcissists!

Usually what we want to do. I mean, I pick stuff like going to see my family and think she will enjoy seeing her cousins, or seeing my friends with kids, but it is usually on our schedule, not something she has asked to do.

There's really nothing I really want to do... And stuff I want to do, I prob don't want kids tagging along anyway! I'd say we plan weekends 80/20. I'd consider things like baby showers, birthday celebrations etc to me for "me".

We do what we need to do, but if we don't have anything that we HAVE to do, sometimes we pick based on what we think the kids would like or what they want to do.

both...depends on the weekend and what we have going on. some weekends revolve around her, some revolve around us. we both work full-time outside of home so we need our weekend time, too. it's a compromise so that all members of the family can do their things.

on saturday the kids have swim lessons, but aside from that, we usually what we need to do and the kids tag along.
one kid is in school PT and the other is at home with me for now, so we do a lot of kiddie fun during the week.

I've been meeting a lot of European families lately, and it's been so interesting to see how so many of them pick weekend activities for the parents and not the kids! The parents do their thing, and the kids are expected to tag along and entertain themselves.

That's actually kind of how I was raised! But somehow I switched tracks and now everything we do with our free time revolves around the kids. I'd like to change to be more parent-centric at times, but it's hard... mostly because my kids aren't so great at entertaining themselves! Gotta work on that one...
