I wonder if it the same thing or something more advanced is going in Europe. I have other complications as well (my retinas detached so they don't want the pressure on my eyes either), and the only "helpful" thing I've ever heard is that there is a procedure that could help me in Europe that is not yet approved here. It was described to me essentially as permanent contacts. I haven't even attempted a consultation since I know I won't be a candidate yet. DH has (not as) bad eyes and he went a couple years ago for a consultation. Apparently there's some random condition that can prevent you from getting lasik and it showed up for him. It's a maybe you'll get it, maybe you won't gamble though which is annoying. He can only wear contacts for limited time since he got back from Iraq.
