Not really, but we have a chest freezer and pantry filled with crap that we could eat in an emergency.

We just have to make sure that we have formula for the baby, and that's about it.

We do prep in some cases because we have extreme weather. Severe snowstorms and hurricanes.

Not really. We don't live in an extreme climate. The only experience we had with a major snowstorm (15" overnight), everything was open/working the next day and streets were ploughed quickly. Business as usual. A week or so ago there were flurries for like an hour and I saw several snowploughs at the ready, but there wasn't anything to plough!

No, I don't stock up in preparation for a storm. I'm sure my answer would be different if I lived in a region where storms frequently caused issues, or if we were more isolated. I like to be prepared. We always have plenty of food, but that has more to do with me liking a fully stocked pantry for ingredient variety and convenience.

Yes, we have a good emergency heat and water supply, cooking supplies, and a food stash in our house to keep us fed for several weeks and a food stash off site that will keep our entire immediate family fed for 6 months.

Not really. We live in Maryland so we don't typically have severe weather. We are also in the city so we could walk to stores/restaurants if need be.

We don't get many storms but when we do, I fill up my gas tank to be on the safe side. We typically have enough bottled water and food in our pantry to last a week or so.

Filling up gas tanks is the biggest thing for us as I've been in situations where my tank was almost empty during a hurricane and it was hard to come by afterwards. Now we fill up our tanks as soon as we hear about a hurricane threat. We also make sure to have batteries for flash lights and a few gallons of water just in case.

Not really, but I have lived in cities my whole adult life. It's rare that I wouldn't be able to get out and walk to the store for more than a day, and we always have at least a few days worth of food. We have never lost power during a storm. Is probably do a little more prep if I lived further from the store and had more of a chance of losing power.

We have a emergency food supply kit that is good for 20 years for 4 people for 2 weeks and have huge water tanks- I think 2 30 gallon. Our pantry is well stocked and we have a bunch of camping gear and firewood. So we are prepared for most things besides the apocalypse- then we need plywood to keep the zombies out.

We went to the store this weekend, but that was out of need not because of a pending storm! I did buy bottled water which we don't normally keep on hand, so I guess maybe that's a preparation?

My mom used to do this, but we lived out in the country and there was one storm where she wasn't prepared for food and lost power, and my dad had to make it to town for basics and a normal 10 minute drive took him over an hour. I think ever since that disaster she was too scared not to stock up pending a storm!

I think it depends where you live! We lived 45 minutes from town for awhile growing up and had a generator and a propane tank and always had food for a month and tons of bottled water. We really did need it sometimes.

DH grew up in the true mountain wilderness and it was 2 hours anywhere. They regularly got snowed and iced in (not even a plow could get through), you would have to hike miles in waist high snow to get to a drive-able street. They truly would get snowed in for a week.

Now we live in a city where I can happily hike to a grocery across the street if necessary. Plus we have solar and generator backup.

I do, mostly so I can feel in control. I grocery shop with quick meals in mind, don't buy tons of perishables and pick up a case of water bottles. I check the flashlights are charged/have batteries and all that. Just makes me feel better knowing we don't have to go out during a big storm.

So I grew up in Michigan, where bad weather is kind of a constant (so generally life just goes on). After moving to Georgia seven years ago, it's so funny to me that with the threat of any weather everyone runs out to buy milk, bread, and eggs! Those specific items. Everyone. Every time.

I mean, it definitely makes sense to prep here because there's little infrastructure to deal with bad weather, but is everyone making french toast for every meal or something??

No, we're getting dumped on right now and I'm pretty sure we have no food in our house. I debated going grocery shopping yesterday, but having a pajama day won out in the end. It will most likely be a scrounge around for dinner kind of night.

Not really – I make sure LO has enough milk to last a couple of days and if we’re supposed to get a lot of snow over several days I’ll fill up, but other than that we have a pantry and could certainly make due for a few days if need be. I only fill my tank because I’d rather not be out pumping gas in a snowstorm; I’m not really worried about there being a true need to have a full tank of gas. We have 2 AWD vehicles and a hardwired whole house automatic generator, so getting out of our house and keeping warm inside of our house isn’t really an issue.

We are expected to get 7” of snow tonight and I have no plans to do anything about it. Such is life in New England!

Yes; fill up our tanks, b/c one year the whole region ran out of gas and it was crazy! I start checking inventory to see if I need to replenish anything. I'm more vigilant about this now that we have a kid!

We are in the middle of a snow/ice warning and apparently everyone is preparing by stocking up on things at the store. I've never prepped in such a way and just hope for the best. There has never been an instance where I needed food/water to last several days. We have lost power before, or been snowed in but it only lasted a day or two. We almost always have enough food to last several days if not weeks.

Do you prepare for bad weather? If so, how?
