No way. No one wants to hang out with an over tired 16 month old! Plus I want child free time with my friends.

@PawPrints: Exactly. It was a bigger issue when my son was younger, but if he's in bed, that means I can actually relax and enjoy the evening without having to toddler-wrangle. My son goes to sleep at 8 so he's had plenty of time to socialize. Then it's my turn

Nope! Bedtime is pretty strict around here. LO does t sleep in just because she stayed up late so it would mean a rough time the next day.

The older one, yes, because he will sleep in a little and isn't particularly cranky if he gets less sleep (he's almost 5).

The younger one no, because he actually gets up earlier and is a cranky mess (he's 2).

Occasionally on the weekends we will let him stay up an extra hour. But he never sleeps any later so usually we just suffer with a cranky toddler the next day.

When they were little, we would keep bedtime. Now that they are a bit older (3 and 6) we let them stay up. On NYE they both stayed up until 3 am!

Like.. half an hour at most... At 2 she isn't very good at sleeping in still. Being overtired at night will just get her up even earlier then next day

All the time. Dd1 is low sleep needs and would go to bed at like 11 every night if I let her. She is pretty good company and our friends probably like her more than us lol.

Definitely ! Except if we have to wake up early the next day, but then we probably wouldn't have guests over anyway. When we have guests on the weekend, they usually have kids too, so they play together until they fall asleep !

Nope. It is zero fun for everyone. My youngest goes to bed at 6:30 and if you haven't started her bedtime routine by 6:22, she loses her mind. None of my friends understand and just say, "Oh, you can pUt her to bed here." No, I can't, but thanks.

More the opposite - we want to be extra sure to get her in bed by the regular time so the adults' evening can get started. This is how we spend most of our social weekend evenings.

Last night we had a dinner party with some friends visiting from America, so we pushed bedtime a few hours! I forgot how much fun that can be... early bedtimes are such a drag when friends are over. Just when everyone is having a good time, it's light's out!!

Our kids' school doesn't start until 1 pm, so we can push bedtime here more often than we did in the past... but we usually don't, just because they already sleep pretty late.

Do you push your kids' bedtime if you have friends over late?
