Thanks everyone! She's just had a big screaming fit about me trying to get her to sleep and it's taken an hour and a half to get her to sleep just on me. I feel like this is CIO but in my arms, not fun at all, poor baby. I seriously need to figure out how to turn this around for her!

Eek! Stay with the crib. I have serious nap issues with my LO because I was never consistent with te crib. I let her nap on my lap at the boob until 9 months. As I type this we are sitting in my driveway as she naps in the backseat. :(

@cascademom: how long do you think it took out of curiosity? My LO will roll around happily after waking from a fifteen minute micro nap but when I tried to leave him in there he just continued to roll for twenty minutes! I went in bc I didn't want to have his whole awake time be in the crib only to put him down again :/

we co-bed at night, but we are sticking with crib for naps (or pack and play if we're at my parents). sometimes she'll take a nap in the car if we're out running errands, but I really try to work around naps now.

our struggle is the length! no matter where she sleeps, she'll only sleep 35-45 minutes. which results in a million naps a day (she will fall asleep about 1-2 hours after waking up).

We have the same problem and I've been trying to stick with the crib. I have an insane hope that one day it will just click!

I would say stick with the crib. Baby will be fine in there even if they're moving around entertaining themselves instead of sleeping. This happened this morning for me. LO woke up at 6am. I fed him, he pretty much woke up, I put him back in the crib. He essentially played in the crib as I saw on the monitor. I guess it tired him out because by the time I was done getting ready for work, he was asleep.

I've got no answer bc I struggle with this too. Then he gets so over tired it seems impossible to sleep at all. No advice just empathy!

@MsLipGloss' strategy is what I would recommend also, but I would try with the first nap of the day instead. Babies are usually the most tired for their first nap (unless you've seen a pattern with your LO where she sleeps longer at another point of the day). I'd try the crib for the first 2 naps and if they've been really crappy then I'd do whatever I had to do to get a really good afternoon nap.

We have this issue as well. Currently, I have chosen one nap a day (the mid-day nap) for LO to be consistently in her crib. The other two naps (morning and late afternoon) can be wherever she will sleep longer. When the mid-day nap is managed, I will then start another nap time in her crib. I chose sleep (for her and myself) . . . because it was really wrecking her evening sleep to only get short naps.

Yes, we still used the crib to try to keep reinforcing that the crib is for sleep. Once he woke up I either stuck him in the swing or nursed him back down again.

I would stay consistent with the crib. It's hard (and I've not been the best), but they learn with consistency.

Yah, LO went through a phase where he would wake up at 10 mins on the dot. I would go in and rock him back to sleep and pretty much do this every 10 mins for an hour or so. I would also take him out for a car ride for one of his naps to make sure he got at least one good nap a day.

I would suffer through the short term pain of getting her in the crib. Maybe she will get used to it quickly. It didn't take long for both of my kids!

I'm so torn at the moment. If I put A in her crib, I know she'll wake up within the next 5-30 minutes. If I let her sleep on me I can get at least an hour. But I know that's not a long term solution and I'm super tired and could do with a nap myself. What would you do? Put her down and persevere even though you know she won't nap properly? Or keep hold of her so she rests as she should and I guess I could nap a little with her...
