My LO was never able to get back to sleep. Now that she's a toddler she'll fall asleep for two minutes, poop, wake up, and the nap is done.

@banana: yeah yesterday I tried this, and she was ready for another nap after only an hour!

@NovBaby1112: it's nice to rest a little, too, and catch up on HB with the iPad!

@coastmama: looking forward to her figuring out how to go to sleep by herself...someday!

I used to rock LO to sleep for naps. He would sleep 30-45 minutes and I would go back in a rock him back to sleep each time to extend his naps. Around 6 months I started putting him down without rocking him and that's when I stopped putting him back to sleep. If he is happy and playing in his crib, I normally leave him in there if its been a short nap to see if he will put himself back to sleep. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. I don't think it hurts anything, it was just driving me crazy.

I try but if she refuses to fall back asleep, I'll just try to put her down earlier for her next nap.

I used to do this all the time when LO was little, and even still at 9 months if she has a short nap I will lay down with her and nurse her back to sleep! I see nothing wrong with it...I used to do whatever possible to make sure she had enough day sleep and naps and wasn't overtired during the day! Plus I love the cuddles too :)

My daughter is 4 mos old and takes 3 or 4 naps a day. I nurse her to sleep in our bed, or wear her for naps. Her first nap of the day lasts about 45 minutes, but the later ones are a bit of a crap shoot.

She just woke up after a 30 minute nap, and I'm trying to get her back to sleep.
Usually if its less than 45 minutes, I try to get her to sleep longer (by nursing her to sleep again, sometimes for as long as 20 minutes), but I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't?
